What to Expect at Creekside Chiropractic & Massage
Upon entering our office our receptionist will greet you as a member of our family. Whether you were referred by a family member, medical provider or an attorney, our friendly staff will ensure you have the proper forms to get you started. Please give us as much detail as possible.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Eric Brown to discuss your health-related concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Brown to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care meets your goals.
Your initial evaluation includes a physical examination, orthopedic and neurologic testing. Additionally, global ranges of motion and a complete postural exam will be performed. Careful palpation of the various areas of your spine will also be used to evaluate your condition. Palpation is how we check the position and motion of your spine by hand. With this part of the exam Dr.Brown will establish important facts about your back and neck, including spinal position, lack of normal motion, localized swelling, and muscle involvement. These procedures help us detect the presence or absence of bone misalignments. This exam usually takes approximately fifteen minutes. However, your individual needs will truly determine the length of exam.
X-rays are a common and very essential part of the examination process. However, x-rays will not be given to pregnant women or young children. X-rays give us critical information including the position of the bones, previous or current areas of trauma, areas degeneration, and your posture compared to normal posture, the structure of your spine and safety of adjusting it. Truly, x-rays are the blue print to your spine.
Report of Findings
At the conclusion of your first visit, we will schedule you for your Report of Findings. This is your most important visit and should be scheduled within a day or two of your x-rays.
It is at your Report of Findings that we will explain the results from our testing and x-rays and let you know if we can help you. If you qualify as a chiropractic patient in our office we will give you a plan for care as well as any special instructions you will need to obtain the best possible results.
